Chief Science Officer Program
.
Kaylee Onder, Kamryn Ramos, Evan Goisovich, Austin Maul, and Bryce Harrington have been selected to serve as Chief Science Officers for our school district. The program, offered through the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8, provides students with opportunities to connect with CSOs from neighboring schools.
On September 18, our CSOs participated in a leadership training institute to begin developing their skills. As part of their role, they will also create an action plan to promote STEM awareness in our community. This year, they have chosen to organize a STEM-a-thon for our 2nd grade students, featuring five interactive stations. The event is planned for May.
The Chief Science Officer (CSO) Program is an international initiative dedicated to elevating student voices through leadership opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This program cultivates a diverse network of student leaders, encouraging active engagement and collaboration. By enriching your school’s STEM culture, the CSO Program raises awareness of STEM careers and empowers students to amplify their voices within the community, making a lasting impact on the future of STEM education.
